Thank you for inquiring about Kumon Issaquah. Kumon is a different kind of after-school math and reading program where academic success is achieved in as little as 15-20 minutes of daily practice per subject and twice-weekly visits to our center. That means that your child can benefit from Kumon year round without sacrificing extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, dance, or art, for example, and without adding much more "homework time" to his or her schedule.
In addition to strengthening your child's math and/or reading skills, Kumon also helps establish strong study skills and work habits. Indeed, many Kumon Parents tell us that one benefit of Kumon is that their children complete their regular homework assignments with greater speed and accuracy.
Kumon addresses one of the realities of school: classes move ahead at a pace that don't always take into account your child's specific abilities. Struggling children fall behind, gifted children become bored, and so-called "average" children are destined to remain...average. It's not the fault of the teacher, or the child. It's simply the only way schools can manage the needs of a wide variety of students.

The first step to becoming a Kumon Success Story is to attend an orientation. Orientations are now offered once or twice a month on Saturday mornings. You may attend at either location, Issaquah or Snoqualmie. Please call for dates and times. Orientations last one hour and during the orientation we talk about our outstanding history of unparalleled academic achievement and what we do to help our students succeed. We discuss the Kumon math and reading curriculum, our straight line mastery approach and how it supplements the spiral approach offered at schools. And finally, we compare the Kumon method to other educational resources that are available to you such as tutoring programs.
After you attend an orientation, placement testing can be done during class times. Following the placement test, prospective families will privately discuss placement test results, individual needs, goals, and how long it will take to reach your goals.
Parents of preschoolers and kindergartners who are seeking structured curriculum and sequential materials to use at home to teach their children basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic should consider Junior Kumon. Kumon Issaquah provides the full spectrum of worksheets, read aloud books, flashcards, charts, and log books for parents to work with their preschool children at home.
